BALI SCHOOL VISIT

BALI SCHOOL VISIT
On the next instalment of their Indonesian trip, Dan and Lisa returned to SD No 2 Gulingan School in Bali to see Headteacher Mrs Desak, her staff and all the pupils again, and to see their donated reading areas in action.
In some of the photos you can see Lisa and the children making Hindu offerings for their Kuningan ceremony and Hindu New Year - this is called Nyepi, or 'silent day'. Meanwhile, Dan was helping the boys to make frames holding the offerings.
The school is currently undergoing some renovations and building work - the group photo you can see is taken outside one of their new buildings. Also check out the new fully-stocked reading areas that Makasi has provided in each classroom, together with 3 laptops for educational use - the children love them and everything is already being well used.
Dan and Lisa also spent time in the classrooms so the children could practise their English, and gave them all some English sweets to try. As always, they found the generous hospitality of children and staff very humbling and are already planning the next joint project with Mrs Desak and her team.

See you all again next year!
