SCHOOL VISITS

 

DAN GOES BACK TO SCHOOL!

Dan is still on his travels, and he reserved some time on the trip for him and Lisa to visit some of the local elementary schools attended by Makasi workers' children to donate some supplies. As Makasi is now well established as a company in Java and Bali, we think it's important to help these local communities by giving something back where we can.

They started with SD Negeri Langon 01 School in Java on Monday. Here they were met by the Head Teacher, Mrs Kistyaningsih, who took them into the classroom to meet the children who ranged in age from 6 to 12. They chatted to the children who were all very keen to learn English and managed to ask Dan and Lisa a lot of questions!

Then they went on to visit SD No. 2 Gulingan School in Bali on Friday and were met by the Head Teacher, Mrs Desak. The children, also aged between 6 and 12, greeted Dan and Lisa in a traditional Balinese way with flower garlands, traditional instruments and homemade food and drink in the classrooms. The children were very excited to talk about what they wanted to do when they grow up!

At both schools, Dan and Lisa donated school bags with books, pens, crayons and more - including a selection of English sweets inside each bag for the children to try. They also donated some English learning words and  phrases flash cards, some English reading books and some chocolates for the Head Teachers. The staff and children at both schools were very grateful for the gifts, and Dan and Lisa felt really honoured to be there. The school trips were a great success and Makasi will definitely be continuing to support these schools in the future.
